New version released - popup windows, default browsers, start with windows and much more

Hi all,

We’ve been working on this one for a few weeks now and are happy to finally let it out. We’ve gotten tons of feedback from our community and its been just great incorporating this into this version.

Here are some of the main things we got in:

  • Support for new/popup windows - This works really great, and lets you pop-out things like GMail-Chat, Facebook-Chat, etc, while keeping them in the context of your original Bubble.
  • External links open with default browser - Many users have requested this one, and now no matter if you use Firefox, IE, Opera or Lynx, your external links will always open with your default browser.
  • Runs when windows starts - Another highly requested feature, you can now configure any Bubble to launch when windows starts up. To do this, simply right-click any Bubble in the My-Bubbles list from the Settings screen.
  • Improved Software Update - Upgrading to newer versions of Bubbles is now easier and simpler. Next time a new version comes out, you’ll be notified and will be able to upgrade without even having to navigate and download the new version yourself.
  • Improved Preferences Pane - Simon and Vadim wanted to make the Preferences pane look good, and well, now it does. Not too many Extensions use the Preferences Pane, but this will change soon. Try right-clicking the Facebook extension’s system-tray icon and click Preferences.
  • Many smalll bug fixes - from hanging menus to crashing extensions, we’ve put an effort to make the experience smoother.

Daniel, who is in charge of bubbleshq.com has also implemented many improvements, especially to the forums - so come have a look and join the conversation.

We’ve also produced our first video tutorial, or screen-cast. We wanted to do this a long time ago but it took us a while to find the time. Now that we’ve done one we’re hooked and you can expect many more to come, and we’ve setup a web-page just for it - videos.
